Fishing for largemouth bass can be extremely difficult if you are faced with an area of dense weeds that are firmly rooted in the bed of the body of water. Your first instinct may be to pull at the weeds or avoid the area, but if you do the former then you will be ruining the habitat. If you do the latter than you will be missing out on some of the best largemouth bass fishing! There are ways around it and you can incorporate them into your fishing tecnhique. You do not have to actually fish in the weeds to catch a bass. They may well shelter there but you can avoid the weeds and still catch bass if you use the right tools. A bass will be attracted to prey as a result of the sensory nerves that happen to be on either side of its head, just under the gills. The nerves will pick up any vibrations within the water and thus will direct it to the source of the vibration. You can capitalise on this by using vibrating bait. If you attach a torpedo to your rod, for example, this will soon lure the bass to you because they will think it is food. You can draw them out of the vegetation this way. Alternatively, if the water is shallow, try standing in it to fish. This will make it easier for you to control the rod and where you are casting the line. More control will mean less damage to your rod.
