Do you ever use jigs with live bait to catch bass?
I have from time to time used live bait to catch bass. I have noticed that lately it is artificial bait and lures that work better. I have used a slow moving lure as well as a faster moving one. The speed is determined by the species you are fishing. For largemouth bass the slower lures are needed because the largemouth does not like to chase its food. However, this can also be the opposite. There is no proper way to present food to the bass. The main thing that is important is the locations, depth and water clarity as well as temperature. You could use live bait or artificial lures and not catch anything if you are not in the right place to find the bass. Anyway, I use both. Spinners, crankbaits and Rappa’s will work as well as night crawlers. High vibration is needed if the water is strained, then I would use a live bait because I have better luck than using a vibrating lure. I do use a lighter test line, which allows the live bait to move more freely. I guess it is a matter of preference whether I use live bait or not. I scope the area before making any decisions. It is important to know where you are fishing and what others have used to catch the bass. If you go out fishing, take along both and see what works better. Sometimes I will run two lines with one of each on the end. Whatever hits is what I use the rest of the day.
