Do you recommend handmade bass fishing jigs? What’s the benefit of making your own vs. buying them?
I can recommend handmade bass fishing jigs because you save money and have something that you know is going to catch a fish and not malfunction when the bite is there. If I were to buy bass jigs, I would have to spend a lot of money to get something reliable, therefore, making your own is cheaper and you will have something that you yourself know is going to be strong and hold up. I do however still buy bass jigs, but I have a few handmade jigs that I use in different situations. You just know that the tie is right and the jig is going to hold. Buy an expensive and durable jig and make the tie yourself. If you were to buy some of the jigs that come twelve to a pack for under four dollars, you are not going to be happy. They are cheap and will break even when you hook a small fish. You are better off with one expensive one, tying and painting it yourself. Then you know you can handle a large bass no matter what. I am not even sure why they sell them cheap jigs in a package, but I do not use them. I do not know of many anglers that do. Get yourself a good jig and then make it up the way you want it to be. Add a little hair or add some color, you can do a better job than you would if you bought some already done.
