General Information for Striped Bass Fishing
One thing that most all anglers will agree on is that live bait is the
best you can use when fishing for stripped bass. Some of the different
types of live bait that you can use include worms, eels and herring.
There are two main rules to remember when using live bait if you want
to get the most from each of your fishing trips. One is to always keep
it as fresh as possible. The best way to do this is by keeping a
special cooler with you just for your bait. Keeping bait cool is
especially important when fishing during the warm months.
The second thing to remember is to handle the bait as little as
possible. The striped bass have a keen sense of smell and they will not
take the bait if it doesn’t smell right. They will pick up
your scent if you handle the bait a lot. You can wear gloves when
handling the bait to help prevent your scent from being transferred.
The fishing line that you use is very important because you need it to
be strong enough to pull in that big catch. It would be a shame to be
reeling in the catch of a lifetime only to have your line break and
lose it. You also want to make sure that the bait conceals the hook
completely or the striped bass will avoid it altogether.
Being out on the water can be very beautiful and relaxing so you need
to always be careful and pay attention to your surroundings. You
don’t want to take any unnecessary chances with your life
while trying to have a good time. Always be respectful to others and
obey the rules and regulations of the area where you are fishing.
