Failing that there are heated lakes around. They are warm all year
round because of a coal heating system so the bass are always active.
If you think that this is cheating then read on! Bank fish rather than
hiring a boat. Many bass will retreat into grassy banks so you can fish
comfortably from the bank rather than actually going out on the water.
If you do insist on going out in a boat then explore any clear waters
first.
If you can see any holes or ledges then the likelihood is that bass
will be hiding out there. Fishing slowly there, moving your rod very
little and being prepared to sit for hours will reap rewards! Finally,
try a graphite rod in winter. This may sound slightly odd but the
graphite rod is more sensitive and will pick up any and all movement on
and around your rod. The quicker you move when you detect a bass
biting, the more chance you have of success!
