Spinners or plastic worms are always a good choice, particularly for beginners. Good choices would be blue flecked hues for your worms, and red toned shad. White-chartreuse or plain white spinner baits with willow leaf or Colorado blades are good for almost every water condition.

If you want something in which to store your tackle, consider a soft sided tackle box with a removable tray and compartments for jigs and hooks. Always choose something roomy yet compact, and lightweight. Oh, and remember the sunscreen!
