We’ve got several streams and ponds nearby - would either of these make good spots for Bass fishing?
Some streams can be excellent spots for Bass Fishing and they’re often overlooked by most fishermen. You’re going to have the most luck with the Bass that prefer cooler water such as the Smallmouth Bass. Concentrate on finding deep holes such as those below waterfalls or along the face of a steep bank. If you can find a place along the creek with and undercut bank, odds are you’re going to be able to locate Bass. They prefer to stay out of heavy current so any place in the stream that serves as a break could also make a good hiding place. In the winter, you’ll often find large schools of Smallmouth Bass in freshwater springs. They tend to stick close together. Man-made ponds and even small lakes can often be excellent fishing spots for Bass. When fishing this type of water, concentrate on the shoreline especially areas where the vegetation is heavy. Pay close attention to fallen trees, possible depressions or holes on the bottom of the pond and any rock-piles or manmade dams. Many streams and ponds are actually on private property so make sure you get permission before venturing into these areas and be sure to heed any posted No Trespassing signs.
