Is Bass fishing with a boat required?

Do I have to have a boat to go Bass fishing?

While quite a few fishermen will tell that you fishing for Bass without a boat is impossible, I have actually fished from the bank for Bass quite successfully.  If you’re planning on fishing from the bank, look for an area on the lake that is fairly isolated.  You’re going to be looking for a spot that doesn’t get a lot of visitors but does support quite a bit of structure.  Bass prefer lily pads, reeds, bullrushes and coontail moss.  Finding a spot that is a host to any or all of this is perfect.  If you can find a fallen tree or a point that sports stumps, brush piles or boulders, you should be able to pull in a couple of good size Bass as well.  If the water is moving, watch for areas that is it seems to be breaking - this is a sign that some sort of underwater structure is breaking up the current.  Bass love to lurk in such areas waiting for baitfish to pass by.  Another thing to keep in mind, if you’re fishing close to trees, you don’t want your rod to be too long or you’ll get hung up on the branches.  I wouldn’t suggest anything longer than a 6-foot rod.
