Is It Possible To Fly Fish For Bass?

It is possible to fly fish for bass? If so, what’s the basic method?

Fishing for bass is not always associated with fly fishing techniques because the image of a successful bass fishing enthusiast is of a man or woman sitting in a boat or fishing off a bank. You rarely see any images of anyone actually standing in water and fishing for bass! However, it is infinitely possible to fly fish for bass, and in much the same ways as you would fish for trout or another breed for that matter. The best place to fish for bass is 10 yards or so from shore with a reach of around 10 feet so that you can keep up with the bass. They do move very quickly and so it can be very difficult to keep up. If you lose them then it can be a long and arduous day so be sure to wait for the opportune moment to cast your rod. Be sure to fly fish strong and hard if you want to have a fruitful day! There are any number of baits that you can use, but you really do have to use a trial and error method to decide whether or not you favour one over the other. One tip that you may want to bear in mind though is start with a floating line. Bass fly fishing can be fast and furious but if you happen to stumble on a school of bass then you could end up flat on your back in the water if you encourage them to swarm. A floating line will help to avoid this and give you enough beginner experience to be able to find your own technique.
