The Best Size for a Bass Boat.

Category: Uncategorized

I’m thinking of purchasing a Bass Boat. What size would you suggest?

Bass boats usually come in 14, 16, 18 and 20 foot lengths. Remember the longer the length the deeper it’s going to sit in the water. If you primarily fish small bodies of water, you are going to want to go with a 14 foot boat. If you are a die hard fisherman, fish big lakes, and go after the big fish, you may want to consider the 20 foot boat.

For most people the 16 foot is the best choice. You want something with recirculation live wells and rod holders. Lots of storage space is a necessity. The options available for bass boats these days can have you ready to leave the showroom and head straight for the lake. Don’t forget the trolling motor, that’s another must have when looking at bass boats. Most are already equipped with one, however on a few, the trolling motor is an option.

A 16 foot bass boat with a nice wide beam will sit good and low in the water, making bringing in those big fish a lot easier. With this size you can fish both the big bodies of water, and the smaller lakes also. It’s easy to load and unload at the boat ramp. Another consideration when choosing a bass boat is, how many buddies usually go with you. If it’s just you and a couple of friends the smaller size will do fine, however if you have five or six friends that you fish with, you will need a larger boat.
