Can you explain how the drop-shot technique works?

The drop shot technique can prove to be extremely effective when you are fishing for bass in coastal areas. It is used in rough waters, especially those with relatively shallow waters, plenty of surf and a flat beach uderneath. However, it can be used anywhere at any time if you believe that it is completely necessary. After all, it could kick start your score sheet if you are having a particularly bad day! There is a very specific technique that is associated with the drop shot so be sure to read this carefully and then follow the instructions You firstly have to attach the hook to the line so that it is perpedicular and drops straight down. The lure has to be behind the hook itself so it does not interfere with it. When this is all in place, you should cast out the rig, allowing it to hit the bottom of the body of water before reeling it back in a little in order to maintain a tight line. As soon as you have completed this step and whilst maintaining the tightness of the line, you should move it up and down slightly in order to make sure that it is clear of the sandy seabed. You should then work to maintain a tight line by using the tip of the rod to lift up as and when necessary, moving the lure every few minutes to make it look realistic in the water. You should do this as little as possible because too much movement will scare the bass away. The realistic motion of the lure and the longevity of the bait in the water will work really well when you are fishing for bass on the coast or in tubulent rivers so practice and enjoy the success it will bring you!
