Topwater lure

Can you suggest a good topwater lure for Bass Fishing?

How about the spinnerbait? It has all the qualities one needs to look for in a topwater lure. It certainly makes a lot of noise when it is retrieved on the surface. Its blades give off reflection and are a visual tool to attract bass. I have caught many Largemouth Bass over the years fishing this versatile lure on the surface. Unlike traditional topwater lures the spinnerbait does sink. To be used as a topwater lure the bait needs to be retrieved in a manner that allows it to skim the top of the water. This is done by speeding up the speed of your retrieve. This can work to your advantage. Traditional topwater lure float and are on the surface of the water 100% of the time. The fisherman needs to twitch them or use a stop and go technique to achieve the required motion to entice a strike. The spinnerbait gives you the advantage of simulating a bait fish much more accurately. You can allow the bait to drop a couple feet in the water and then bring it to the surface. This resembles a baitfish cruising to the top and often breaking the top of the water to avoid a predator. Spinnerbaits are also much more effective in weeds. Their hook design is somewhat weedless and will not have to be cleaned as often as a true topwater cigar shaped lure with treble hooks. They can be retrieved much fast than a traditional topwater lure. Largemouth Bass that are feeding on the top of the water are generally quite aggressive. The fast retrieve works better with these fish; use the lure that lends itself to a faster retrieve, the spinnerbait.
