Can you explain what a “fluke” is?
There is a number of excellent tools that you could use to help enhance your bass fishing experience and that enable you to catch more on the avergae trip and a fluke is one of those tools. In fact, some bass fishing enthusiasts swear by it! A fluke is effectively a soft bait that is attached to the line alongside the hook. It isdifferent from other baits in that it actually resembles a fish. The fluke is designed to resemble a living fish. The lines, shape and colours that this bait comes in all add up to the same thing to attract the largemouth bass. If you think about it, the bass in any area will eat smaller fish as part of their everyday diet and so a small fish is logically more likely to attract a bite over a worm. A fluke effectively moves like a fish and looks like a fish, with the added advantage that it can be used anywhere and in any conditions. Many fishing enthusiasts will advocate its use in densely vegetated areas and also in clearer waters. Others will not use anything else because they have found that if a bass does not bite a fluke then the likelihood is that it will not bite at all. The majrity of good fishing stores will stok flukes in a variety of shapes and sizes. It is best to try out several of the range to see which ones work best for you. This may vary from area to area but you will also get a good idea of when to use each one. All in all, if you experiment, you will ultimately find the best ones for you.

A fluke is a soft plastic bait with a split tail rigged Texas style with no weight. You can work it quickly near the top and it wags side to side much like a Zara spook, or let it sink and work it underwater in the 1-2 foot range. It’s great for schooling fish or worked around pad fields.
