What’s the best bait to use when fishing for sea bass?
There has been much debate over the best lures and baits between bass fishing enthusiasts eve since bass fishing began! Many people have their own favourites that differ from those of another bass fishing enthusiast, but it is all about finding the ones that work for you, depending on where you fish for sea bass of course! However, one of the maintopics is whether to use live bait or not. Sea bass fishing enthusiasts do tend to go for live bait above artificial bait. They will happily tell you that peeler crab and anchovies will have the sea bass lining up to bite, and in some cases this is true, but many bass fishing enthusiasts only use live bait in winter when the light is relatively bd and the water is very cold. During summer, they may use lures that are very brighly colours and thus will glint in the sun. This will attract the attention of the bass and capitalize on the light. They may also us buzz baits to attract the sea bass via vibrations. However, this is not as effective as it may be on the large or smallmouth bass that live in rivers and streams because of the amount of activity that occurs in the ocean. Some sea bass will not even pay attention to the vibrations at all if there is much disturbance on a particular day. Go for colour over motion, and if all else fails then go for crab! One or the other courses of action will work for you so you justhave to work out which one!
