When should I rig a tube with a jig head?
I want to start by saying that you can rig a tube with a jig head if you are going to be fishing weed beds or around timber or dead wood. The fish are not accustomed to seeing this type of presentation in these areas and will have no choice but to bite. This choice has been common to use in lakes and rivers where the populations are in abundance, but are popular for other areas as well. By changing the tube color, you can make the tube resemble something such as a crayfish, alewife or a sunfish. By using the different colors, you will have forage that the bass like to eat. The tube jig can be used for any conditions and any water depth. You can use it in covered water, open water, muddy water, clear water, shallow water or even deep water. The tube jig is versatile and will work well for catching bass anywhere, under any conditions. If you find yourself not catching any bass with a plastic worm, switch to the tube rig and you will see the difference right away. You might have to adjust the size of the tube rig, but this depends how hungry the bass are at the time. I have heard of anglers going out with nothing but a tube rig and having a successful day of fishing. It is all a matter of choice, but I still recommend having other lures and bait just in case the tube rig is not working in a particular area.
