From an outsider’s point of view, bass fishing can seem incredibly complicated and very hard to get the hang of but that need not be the case. Some bass fishing enthusiasts do spend years and years perfecting their techniques and tackle combinations, but if you just want to be able to go out on the water with your kids and have a good time then you just need to know the basics for a start. if you find you like it then look into the more complex techniques later but for now just keep it really simple. The first tip is to find out a little about the water that you are taking your kids to fish in. Is there vegetation there? Are the waters clear? Are there any areas that you should fish at any given time of year? Armed with this information, you should then purchase or hire equipment so that you can fish. This depends on whether it is going to be a regular family activity or possibly a one off because there is no point wasting money if it is to be the latter. Make sure that you talk to someone in the store that is knowledgeable about such matters because you will then get what you want and need to be able to fish. Practice techniques for the first hour or so when you head out onto the water. Stick to fishing the top waters and cast your line every couple of minutes or so to keep the line and chances of getting a bite fresh.
